正在齐鲁台热播的电视剧《叶问》在汲取各家所长的同时，以文人导演范小天的独特视角，在郑嘉颖的重新诠释下，让观众认识了一个不断成长、不断自省自问的功夫大师。该剧播出后，不少观众纷纷表示，在郑嘉颖版叶问身上看到了“练家子”少有的文艺气质，而他也用自己的传奇经历书写了博大精深的中华武魂。
TV series Ip Man is given a new look with Kevin Cheng playing its lead giving the audience the opportunity to understand a different side of the kungfu legend. After its premiere, many viewers have commented that Kevin's version shows them the literary side of Ip Man which is rarely seen in other available versions so far.
被赞有文艺气质的《叶问》，武打场面也不逊色，尤其是主演郑嘉颖，在“零基础”的情况下向观众交出了一份近乎完美的功夫答卷。制片人吴涛表示：“郑嘉颖其实接演《叶问》是承受蛮大压力的。但好演员就好在他懂得如何将压力化为动力。靠着勤学与苦练，郑嘉颖成功演绎了大家心中的叶问。”首度展示武艺的TVB视帝，剧中表现也赢得了观众的一致好评，还有观众对于剧中叶问擂台迎战拳王的那一幕印象深刻，坦言：“叶问打掉的不是简单的几个外国侵略者，而是刻在所有中国人身上‘东亚病夫’的耻辱。咏春扬的不光是中国武术的博大精深，更是所有中国人的精气神。”
The fight scenes definitely are worthy of praises especially when Kevin comes from zero martial art background. Producer Wu says: "Kevin actually was under tremendous stress when shooting this series. The difference between a good and an okay actor is he knows how to change this into motivation. Relying on diligence and hard work, Kevin managed to portray the Ip Man close to people's heart." First time showing off his skills, Kevin won praises all around. There were some who even said: "Ip Man did not only knock down a couple of foreign invaders but rather the shame of being labelled Asia's Weaklings. Wing Chun is not only a Chinese martial art but a spirit of all Chinese people."
五打星领新人掀“咏春热”
除了有“零基础”武林新手郑嘉颖的出色演绎，《叶问》另一“质保”就是于荣光、梁小龙、元华、梁家仁、于海五大顶级打星的倾力加盟。吴涛直言：“这部戏并不是叶问一个人的独角戏，我们希望剧中每一个角色都是巨星，每个动作都是实打实的真功夫。”虽然愿景是好的，可在《叶问》拍摄时，很多人都担忧五大巨星共演一剧，各个都是以一敌百的高手，会不会片场出现“王不见王”的火爆一面。对此，吴涛笑言：“观众多虑了，这些大家不仅身手了得，艺德更是值得我们每个人敬重。他们会为了一个很小的动作与武指耐心切磋，只为将最精彩的动作呈现给所有观众。”
Apart from Kevin Cheng, the show brought together 5 famous action stars: Yu Rong-guang, Liang Xiaolong, Yuen Wah, Liang Jiaren and Yu Hai. Producer Wu says: "Ip Man is not a one-man show. We hoped that every character in the show is a star in their own rights. Every move you see in the show are real punches." Actually during the shoot, public were worried how a show can contain 5 superstars especially when they are all unique in their own way? Wu says: "Not only are they martial art experts but they are also respected professional actors. They will only present the best to the audience."
在五位前辈以及武坛新人郑嘉颖的合力诠释下，南拳北腿、形意拳、咏春拳、八卦掌、查拳等传统武术都在《叶问》中得到了展现。随着剧集的深入播出，网上随之掀起了一场“咏春热”。不少网友都表示：“《叶问》不仅激起了我的爱国热，更让我一颗学武的心蠢蠢欲动。不为报国，哪怕强身也是极好的呀。”
