正在齐鲁台热播的新武侠剧《叶问》主演郑嘉颖因成功出演“叶问”一角引来网友一片好评。郑嘉颖坦言：“每个人心中都有一个叶问。作为演员，我的任务就是演好我这一版叶问，让大家对他了解更多。”而大量的动作戏也让郑嘉颖付出很多，受了不少伤。但他表示拍这部戏很辛苦，但从叶问身上学到了很多。他更自嘲不会咏春拳的自己拍完《叶问》后，武艺大增，实现了从“白痴”到“大师”的跨越。
TV series Ip Man is currently being aired on Qilu Channel. Male lead Kevin Cheng has managed to portray the character Ip Man successfully attracting praises from netizens. Kevin admits: "There is an Ip Man in everyone.As an actor, my job is to portray the my version of Ip Man so that people will get to know him better." Kevin has given a lot to the amount of action scenes involved in this show and have sustained a lot of injuries in the process. He admitted that this is a very tough show to shoot but he has learned a lot from Ip Man. He also said joking that for someone who didn't know anything about wing chung, he has since progressed from an "idiot" to a "master" after completing the show.

There was Donny Yen's movie version of Ip Man then Tony Leung's movie version of the Grandmaster and now Kevin Cheng's TV version of Ip Man. Ever since it premiered on Qilu Channel, ratings has maintained at a high level. There are feedbacks indicating that Kevin's version is clear and natural, full of a wushu demeanor. There are also those who says that Kevin's version is young and suave, a pleasant surprise to many.

When asked to compare with the other versions in the market, Kevin says the same character but different production will bring a different outcome. Even the different actors will bring out a different feel. "There is an Ip Man in everyone.As an actor, my job is to portray the my version of Ip Man so that people will get to know him better." Kevin admits that all the versions of Ip Man before this are all outstanding works and he personally likes them all. But TV version tells a lot more in depth story about the character, "This show is about to portray the growth of Ip Man which is the main selling point. This is also where my acting places most importance."

Compared to the movie version, TV version has more action scenes hence higher expectations and hence higher requirements from the actors themselves. For this, male lead Kevin Cheng has suffered numerous injuries during shooting even though they have taken all necessary precautions.
剧中，郑嘉颖的武戏有将近200余场。有一次和武师拍摄时，郑嘉颖反应慢了半秒，加之武师出拳速度极快，一记重拳硬生生地打在了郑嘉颖的右眼，造成青肿出血，被送往医院后缝了十针，差点留疤毁容。但郑嘉颖处理好伤口后，又连忙赶回来继续拍戏，其敬业精神可见一斑。对于受伤，郑嘉颖看得很淡，“拍打戏，受伤总是难免的。尤其是拍《叶问》这样的戏，受再多的伤也值得。比起叶问受的苦，我的小伤根本不算什么。”
In the show, Kevin has close to 200 action scenes. In one of the scenes sparring with a martial art expert, Kevin reacted half a second slower plus the punch was very quick, Kevin's right eye was hit and had to have 10 stitches, almost leaving a scar. But after he has rested properly and got the injury taken care of, he returned to work. Such dedication is evident and respected. Kevin doesn't think much of those injuries, "Injuries are part and parcel of a action pack production, especially Ip Man. It's worth it no matter how much injuries I will have to endure. Compared to what Ip Man himself went through, my injuries are nothing."

It feels like I have moved from an idiot to a master. Hahaha" But Ip Man has affected Kevin more spiritually, "It is my honour to be able to play Ip Man. I learnt a lot from this man. For instance he sought self-improvement at times of adversity, continually seeking answers and sincerity which is lacking today. He is a real man and a true hero, an example to men today."

It is reported that the global broadcast rights have been bought by TVB who is very particular about setting high standards. It will be aired in Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, USA, Canada, Europe etc The latest news is that TVB will be adjusting their schedule, hoping to be able to air during the same time as China.

To attract viewers to watch a much used subject, Ip Man, is one thing. To be able to garner favourable responses globally is another. However, Kevin has certainly given his best to his acting in this series and even suffered many bodily injuries and so we should keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best.
