Tencent 27 October 2012: Kevin had 10 stitches on his injury, Liu Xiaofeng feels terribly sorry

Kevin Cheng was accidentally injured during shooting of Ip Man resulting in a 2-inch long split at the corner of his right eye and was rushed back in the night to Hong Kong to seek treatment. According to friends, Kevin's injury required 10 stitches and warded in the hospital for a night. He has since been discharged and resting at home. He will stay back in Hong Kong for a week to recuperate and shooting will be suspended due to injury. All work arrangements will be decided after stitches are removed this week.

It is reported that the scene leading to Kevin's injury is a fight scene telling the story of Ip Man dueling with Lin Qingshan (Liu Xiaofeng's character). Lin, who holds grudges and hatred for Ip Man, is one of the main character in this scene. Due to the positioning of the shoot, Liu Xiaofeng did not contest with Kevin directly, but each used substitute for themselves when the camera is aimed at the other. Liu who has a lot of scenes with Kevin was shocked when he heard of Kevin's incident and said he felt very sad when he heard the news.

"At the time the incident happened, I was outside the film set being interviewed. I heard the news just as I was done with the interviews and rushed into the set. Instead, the moment Kevin saw me, he said 'Bro, sorry to delay your end date.' He was bleeding at that time so I told him to cover the wound properly." Liu Xiaofeng said sincerely, "As an actor, looks are very important. Kevin hurt his eye this time and was bleeding, I am really worried and sad. I hope it will not be too major and wish him speedy recovery."

Liu Xiaofeng said that the injuries are inevitable in a fight show and he has also been subjected to injuries himself. He said "Layman may not understand, insiders know that injuries are common when you have fight scenes. But for today's scene, the crew have in fact added additional protective measures for the actors like knee protectors etc." After a few months spent together, Liu Xiaofeng and Kevin have developed a mutual understanding. Liu Xiaofeng claims that Kevin is a very introverted but gentle person. He is very dedicated to his job and hopes that he can recuperate peacefully, do not worry about the progress of the shooting. The priority now is to get well.
