On the set of Ip Man, Kevin vomits fresh blood.
"Aiiii" a mouthful of fresh blood is spewed from the mouth!
"Ahhhh" Those visiting the set screams when they see the blood.
According to crew on the set, due to the amount of fight scenes Kevin has on this drama, his body is full of bruises (big and small). He has to work everyday with those injuries which are very obvious to all on set during costume changes.
But not to worry, this bloody scene is only graphic effects. He is not hurt in anyway.
This scene is about a duel between Ip Man and a Japanese martial expert. And because both are martial art experts, the duel between the 2 men has to be a lot more exciting and demanding. Hence the idea behind it is to create a violent effect.
On the film set, Kevin was thrown onto the floor numerous times. In order to capture the best on film, the same action was repeated a dozen times - punched and kicked a dozen times. Though he has protective gear underneath his costumes but that doesn't eliminate all the brute force that comes with the punches and kicks. Crew members repeatedly ask if they should get his stand-in to take the scenes instead. He gratefully thank them for their concern but insisted on taking on these scenes himself. This is why he is well respected on the set.
The shooting is coming to an end and with that, Kevin's fight scenes will only get heavier. After training for the past 2 months, Kevin's Wing Chun has indeed improved tremendously and repeatedly praised by the experts however, no matter how well you are trained, punches are blind, bruises and injuries are still part and parcel of the job.
We understand that Kevin has hurt himself, big and small injuries alike, more than a dozen times. His body is full of bruises. But Kevin claims these are nothing. He is not that weak and thank everybody for their concern.
