郑嘉颖内地“成名”之作 温润“八爷”展痴嗔爱怨
虽已在香港奋斗多年，在内地也小有名气，但真正让郑嘉颖走入广大内地观众心中的还得是这部精彩的清宫穿越大戏《步步惊心》，它可谓是郑嘉颖在内地的“成名”之作。郑嘉颖在剧中的精彩表现得到了众人的喜爱，使他迅速占据了在内地当红男星中的一席之位，一时间风头强劲。
虽历史上对于“八爷胤禩”的褒贬不一，但郑嘉颖对人物的理解和塑造在众人心中为“八爷”打上了温润如玉的烙印，同时也给自己贴上了一个标签，一提到“八爷”，就会想到郑嘉颖，这可以说是一个极大的成功。在戏中，“八爷”温柔深情，尽谙离愁，悲情的命运令人叹息，而戏外郑嘉颖则凭借这一角色成为了大众心目中的完美情人。

郑嘉颖坦言《步步》是惊喜 获原著作者认可最安慰
在郑嘉颖看来，《步步惊心》算是人生中的一次意外惊喜，郑嘉颖坦言一开始并没有想到这部戏可以得到那么多观众的喜爱和认可。郑嘉颖表示：“其实拍《步步惊心》的时候是有些担心的，因为小说的想象空间太大了，我的想象可能跟一些观众会不一样，拍出来的感觉要跟他们的想象接近是有难度的，所以刚拍《步步惊心》的时候我会常常去看回放，看有没有那种感觉，慢慢的在观念中形成一个八爷的形象，就那么演下去了，结果观众大部分的反应都还不错，这让我很开心。”
郑嘉颖所塑造的“八爷”可以说为小说中的人物形象更添饱满与精彩，除了得到广大观众的喜爱，郑嘉颖还获得了原作者桐华的认可：“你比我想象的演得更好”，这个肯定让此前一度有些担心的郑嘉颖大感安慰，坦言这比拿什么奖都开心：“她觉得我可以，这对我来说是最大的鼓励和认可，因为那是她写出来的角色，起码我没有丢她的脸。”而对于有消息称《步步惊心》将拍续集，郑嘉颖对此也表示了很愿意继续参演。

To Kevin, Scarlett Heart is considered one his life's most pleasant surprise. He admits that he didn't expect that it will be that well received and loved by the audience. Kevin says "I was actually worried when I was shooting Scarlett Heart because a novel based character has a lot that can be left to the imagination. What I imagine 8th Prince to be might not be what the audience imagine him to be. I need to make sure that the 8th Prince I portray will be as close to their imagination as possible and that is difficult so I watched the replay very frequently initially. After sometime, the image of the 8th Prince I wanted to play started to form and the audience loved the end result."
The 8th Prince which Kevin has shaped gave excitement and character to the one in the novel. Apart from the recognition from the audience, Kevin also received recognition from the author of the novel: "You have done an even better job than what I have imagined." This gave Kevin a great sense of relief, which Kevin claims feels even better than winning any award. "She thinks that I have succeed. This, to me, is the greatest encouragement and recognition I can ever have because she created the character. By saying that, it proves that I have not shame her." Commenting on rumors that there will be a sequel, Kevin says he would love to be part of the sequel.
