Han Xue claims that she has been dubbed all these years as a "lady teen idol" and she hopes to change that by playing different roles and characters. "I have made some changes to my acting path in the past like trying out comedies but I hope people can see my transformation in my current role."

The many fight scenes Ip Man pose as a challenge to someone without kungfu background like Kevin. Although Kevin drills and practices the moves over and over again with the instructors but he reveals that in fact he gets nervous everything he has to fight with the likes of Yuen Wah, Liang Xiaolong etc. Han Xue adds "He has fight scenes everyday, quite heartbreaking to see him working so hard."
Kevin says he is more than willing to accept such challenges, to play HIS version of Ip Man and to bring out the spirit of Ip Man. Han Xue praise Kevin for being mature and calm, claims that the understanding between the two of them are getting better everyday. Earlier during shooting on set, Kevin rescued the damsel in distress when Han Xue was frightened by a Tibetan Mastiff on set, giving Han Xue a sense of security both on and off screen.

范小天解释说，叶问虽是习武之人，但并不是一介莽夫，他有他自己的思考，自己的困惑，自己的感悟，这就是“问”，这就是“一问一问又一问，叶问问到高山上”。人的一生也是一个不停地询问和探索的过程，这也正是剧版《叶问》想要传达的。
