LA Law released from prison
Released from prison, LA Law starts afresh in Sam Sui Poh community centre partnering Kris Wong, who took over the daily activities of the centre while LA Law was serving time. He also managed to regain his right to practice in the first episode.
After the passing of Jing Jing, Kah Fu buries himself in his work as a social worker, where he met Sam Sam whom he eventually went into a relationship with.
Mike Junior overcomes his inferiority complex and is caught in a love triangle with Gou Guai (also a lawyer) and Bao Sang (new cop played by Raymond Chao)
Though on the surface they look like a match made in heaven but in reality, LA thinks that Kris is not able to take a neutral stand and look at each case calmly and objectively. He thinks that she is way too stubborn and competitive - wanting to surpass herself and LA. They start drifting apart and eventually ending their partnership in the practice.
Their relationship is further complicated by the LA's ex-wife who returned from States unexpectedly. Ling Lai married LA secretly without her father's knowledge in the States but due to the unfortunate case which incidentally also brought fame and fortune to LA, LA "disappeared" for 7 years leaving his wife as well.
Apart from returning to Hong Kong to start her own medical practice, her main aim is to rekindle her relationship with LA. Her return indeed put LA and Kris's relationship to the test. Towards Ling Lai, LA feels that he is responsible for her and feels that he had done he wrong and needs to make up to her. At the same time, Kris is neglecting LA due to work, putting their relationship to the test.
Caught between 2 women - one whom he loves (Kris) and another whom he feels responsible toward, who will he choose?
